Leftwich Properties did not burst on the scene. Its birth as an entity in this city was more like a pop-up on the screen. It began in 1961 when J B Leftwich bought a single-family dwelling to rent and to supplement his income as a full time teacher and part-time newspaper journalist.
It was a successful venture, and it evolved into a fleet of duplexes, apartment houses, single-family dwellings and commercial offices.
Early in this venture, Glyn Ed Newton, his son-in-law, joined him, investing as a partner and bringing financial expertise to the operation.
Later, Jack Leftwich, his son, became a partner in the acquisition of additional properties. Eventually, all members of the family were involved in the expansion of the business.
Thus, Leftwich Properties became and remains a family business.
J B Leftwich continued managing the business throughout the remainder of the 20th Century, retiring at age 82. Upon his retirement, Jack took over as manager while awaiting the return of his son, Jim Leftwich, from service in the National Guard, including a tour of duty in Iraq.
Jim Leftwich, third generation of family involvement in the rental and property management business, now manages Leftwich Properties. He brings to the operation new ideas and new services. His father remains involved in operations, both in a hands-on manner and in an advisory capacity.
Jim also is a licensed real estate agent who offers counsel to renters awaiting opportunities to purchase their own homes. He is affiliated with the largest real estate firm in Lebanon.
Although Leftwich Properties operates throughout Wilson County, of which Lebanon is the seat of government, its main thrust is inside the city, offering well maintained apartments and houses to renters. Leftwich Properties has apartments and houses near the campus of Cumberland University, and over the years has served many of its students.
We bring to the residential rental business professional service and understanding developed over almost half of a century of operations in this community.
